A video to recognize the 2020 graduates of Edwin Parr Composite School in Athabasca was released by the school this week, giving grads, parents and the community a chance to reflect on the journey students have taken over the last 12 years.
The 11-minute video included messages from administration and staff at Edwin Parr Composite School as well as trustees and staff from Aspen View Public Schools. There were also photos of grads in their younger days all the way to the day of their grad pictures.
“I appreciate the efforts of all of our schools to keep their own graduations very special for the Class of 2020,” said Aspen View board chair Candy Nikipelo. "Each school kind of has stepped up in their own individual way to try to come up with their own celebration.”
Boyle School will be putting on a parade for their students June 19 starting at the school at 3:30 p.m., and may do more in the fall. EPC is planning a ceremony for September 26.
“Aspen View is pretty proud of all of our class of 2020,” Nikipelo said, despite not being able to complete the year at the actual school. "It got abruptly finished without saying goodbye or having closure of attending that school for how many years – they also got robbed of their graduation. Little things like this video help."
