ATHABASCA/BARRHEAD/WESTLOCK - With a federal election campaign now underway and municipal elections in Alberta scheduled for October, Town and Country Today is providing readers with a one-stop spot to read up on all the local candidates who have put their names forward for public office throughout the region.

Candidate profiles and election news can now be found at https://www.townandcountrytoday.com, by looking in the main navigation bar at the top of the page for the Elections tag. There you will find a separate page for the federal election (https://www.townandcountrytoday.com/2021-federal-election-coverage) for the Peace River-Westlock riding, which includes Barrhead and Westlock, and the Lakeland riding, which includes Athabasca and Boyle.

There are five candidates vying for the Peace River-Westlock seat, currently held by Conservative MP Arnold Viersen, while five others have come forward to challenge incumbent Conservative MP Shannon Stubbs in Lakeland.

The federal election will take place Sept. 20, which is also the last day to submit nominations to municipal offices for the Oct. 18 municipal election. You can check in on all the municipal candidates throughout the Town and Country region, as they are posted, at (https://www.townandcountrytoday.com/2021-municipal-election).

We're covering candidates for as many municipalities as possible — from the mayoral and council races in the towns of Athabasca, Barrhead and Westlock; to the county races in each of those rural municipalities, along with Woodlands County and Lac Ste. Anne County; to those looking to lead in the villages of Boyle and Clyde. Candidates for Aspen View Public Schools and Pembina Hills School Division are also included here.

If you're planning on running in your town, county or village, make sure to check your municipality's website for specific information about your nomination package, and don't forget to give us a ring at our offices in Athabasca, Barrhead and Westlock to arrange for a candidate profile interview.
