WESTLOCK – Town of Westlock firefighters were able to quickly extinguish an early-morning Dec. 20 blaze at Carl’s Auto, which is also known as Tirecraft Westlock.

Town of Westlock chief Stuart Koflick says that at approximately 7:30 a.m. Sunday they received a report of a structure fire at 10019 - 107 Ave.

Upon arrival, smoke was observed from the tire shop side of the business, said Koflick. Crews then made an interior attack and successfully contained the fire to that portion of the building. Westlock County firefighters, as well as EMS and RCMP, were also on scene and provided assistance.

The building sustained smoke damage throughout, although the only exterior damage noticeable is a burn mark to the east side garage door. Koflick says there were no injuries and the cause of the blaze remains under investigation.

This is the second fire faced by the town department in the last 48 hours as they were called to an early-morning mobile home fire Friday.

“It’s been a busy weekend … I’m extremely proud of our crews and the work that they have done,” said Koflick.
