Four more people in Westlock test positive for COVID-19

There are five active cases of COVID-19 in Westlock of a total of 12 recorded, according to government data.

WESTLOCK — Four people in Westlock have tested positive for COVID-19 since Friday.

According to the provincial government’s COVID-19 geospatial tracker, which displayed the newest cases today, there are five active cases in the Westlock area, which includes Westlock County, the Town of Westlock and the Village of Clyde.

The last case, Westlock’s eighth total, was recorded on the map Oct. 16. None of the schools in Westlock are listed on the provincial watchlist, meaning there are no schools with two or more active cases.

The threshold for the region to appear on the provincial watchlist is 10 active cases, according to town mayor Ralph Leriger.

Barrhead doubled its case count since Friday to eight active, and Athabasca has one active case of 13 recorded.

There are 3,138 active COVID-19 cases across the province, more than half of them in the Edmonton zone with 1,604 cases.

Eighteen people are in ICU of the 117 COVID-related hospitalizations across Alberta. Four people have died since Friday, so the death toll has reached 292 people.
