Starting Nov. 27, the Town of Westlock's main office will be closed to public walk-ins, although in-person appointments, if needed, are available.
WESTLOCK - Starting tomorrow, Nov. 27, the Town of Westlock office will be closed to public walk-ins, while hours at the Rotary Spirit Centre (RSC) have been scaled back.

The new rules, which are in place for at least three weeks, are in response to premier Jason Kenney’s declaration of a state of public health emergency Nov. 24, which shuttered indoor social gatherings, sports, concert venues and restricted several other activities.

Although the town and FCSS offices are closed to the public for drop-in visits, people can call to make an appointment.

Meanwhile, all usage of either the RSC or pool will require pre-booking by phone, or online at www.westlock.ca.

The RSC will now be open 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. Monday to Friday and 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday and Sunday. Individual or single-household group bookings are only allowed at the fieldhouse, while there are no group ice times for sports like hockey and ringette — all ice times will be for public skating. The RSC gym is limited to a maximum of 13 people, while the walking track is open for one-way traffic and no running is allowed.

Monday to Friday (8 a.m. to 9 p.m.) and Sunday (12:30 to 5 p.m.) hours remain the same at the pool, while Saturday hours are 11:30 a.m. to 7 p.m.

Swimming lessons and Aquafit are cancelled — Aquafit times are changed to lane swim, allowing for individual movement within a lane. Public swimming is available, with limited capacity, while the gym is limited to a maximum of 13 people.

Individual or single household group bookings are allowed for the virtual rec room and racket court, while there’ll be no group rentals for birthday parties or similar events.
