Traffic stop leads to two arrests

Boyle RCMP arrested two men after a traffic stop on the Buffalo Lake Métis Settlement April 11 revealed a firearm and ammunition. File

BOYLE - A firearm and ammunition that RCMP found during a traffic stop last weekend, led to the arrests of two men. 

On April 11, at approximately 5 p.m. Boyle RCMP observed a male known to have a suspended license driving on Buffalo Drive on the Buffalo Lake Métis Settlement 44 kilometres southeast of Boyle. 

“A traffic stop was conducted and the driver and a passenger were arrested after police located a firearm and ammunition in the vehicle,” stated a RCMP media release received April 15. 

Chad Howse, 32, of Caslan was charged with two counts of failing to comply with release conditions and multiple traffic violations. 

Daniel Arcand, 32, of Buffalo Lake, was charged with two counts of failing to comply, careless use of a firearm and possession of a firearm while unauthorized. 

Both were released from custody following a judicial interim release hearing and are both scheduled to appear in Boyle Provincial Court April 27.
