WESTLOCK - Westlock County councillors passed a motion at their April 23 meeting to proclaim May 5-11 as Emergency Preparedness Week.

County Chief Administrative Officer Tony Kulbisky said the theme for this year’s Emergency Preparedness Week is basically the same as last year — “Be Prepared and Know Your Risks.”

With the Westlock area and the surrounding region being under fire restrictions, he said the message of the week couldn’t be emphasized enough.

He also noted that administration will be bringing back the proclamations policy in the future so that it can be amended to include Emergency Preparedness Week.
