Lisa Old, director of the Westlock Library, says they've been forced to close to the public due to a possible COVID-19 positive test. They do plan on offering curbside pickup again June 8 and are hoping to fully reopen June 14.

WESTLOCK - While the Rotary Spirit Centre and pool will fully reopen next week, the Westlock Municipal Library will remain shuttered a bit longer.

Library director Lisa Old said they had been gearing up for a June 10 opening, but a possible COVID-19 positive result has them closed until at least Tuesday, June 8, when curbside pickup will resume.

“Sadly, I seriously doubt we will be able to open to the public on Thursday (June 10) now. It will likely have to wait until next Monday (June 14),” said Old June 4 via e-mail, the day after the facility reported it was forced to temporarily close.

Once the facility is safe to reopen they’ll be going back to regular hours and be open Monday to Thursday from 9:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. and offer curbside pickup on Fridays.

“Otherwise everything is status quo, (we’ll be) following AHS guidelines and restrictions, so masks are mandatory and social distancing will be required as well as limiting your time in the library,” said Old, noting registration for the Summer Reading Club starts June 14 either by phone or online.

“We will continue to offer curbside pickup and curbside services such as photocopying and faxing for anyone who would rather not come into the library or is unable to wear a mask.”
