The Athabasca Aces won their home game 7-1 against Rocky Mountain House last Sunday.
This is the first win for the Aces so far this season.
Coach Curtis Creaser said it was well needed and well deserved.
“We started the year 0-3. Now we have had our first win, and won convincingly 7-1,” he said after the game. “The shots reflected the effort the guys put in.”
The Aces took 47 shots on the opposing team’s net.
“That is how our season has gone,” he said. “We just haven’t had a chance to bury the puck.”
Creaser said all the players were really excited to win.
“The guys are feeling confident now,” he said. “They have more confidence in their scoring.”
Creaser said there were a few players who really stepped up.
“I think Darnell Williams, a local guy, played really well, as did Sean Wrusch,” Creaser said. “However, I give credit to everyone for playing as a team and having a good, positive attitude.”
Creaser said the Aces’ next game is in Whitecourt Friday night, and then a home game Saturday night at 8:30 p.m.
“We are excited to hit next weekend on this positive note,” he said. “This win is a real good turnaround, and next weekend we have two big games.”
