There will be no shortage of excitement at the annual Boyle Rodeo this weekend.

The event will run from Friday to Sunday at the Boyle Agricultural Society Grounds.

The rodeo itself (within the Lakeland Rodeo Association) will feature events like barrel racing, bull riding, bronco riding, bareback riding, tie down roping and team roping.

But that’s just where the fun starts, according to Melvin Nakonechny, vice-president of the Boyle Rodeo Association.

“It’s a full weekend of everything you want to do,” he said.

The laundry list of kids activities includes mutton busting, a greased pig chase, chicken scramble and a petting zoo.

Fans of all ages will no doubt appreciate the return of the demolition, to be held on Sunday at 5 p.m.

And a special concert on Saturday night will feature the popular band Nazareth, with Sweet Tequila opening.

On Friday night there will be a cabaret, with Sweet Tequila, a deejay and more.

Not to be forgotten is the parade on Saturday morning at 10 a.m.

The entire package makes for an event that is popular with people in Boyle as well as folks across the province, and even outside of it.

“They’re coming from all over,” said Nakonechny.

The cost for a day is $10. The Saturday night concert is $45 for general admission.

“Everyone always complains that nothing happens (in town). We’re trying to make something happen.”
