Counting cookies was the name of the game this weekend.
It was the second meet of the season for the Athabasca Rapids Swim Club, this time in Ponoka for the Cookie Classic.
“It’s a very unique event where cookies are given to swimmers achieving their personal best times,” explained Rapids head coach Steve Splinter.
And the 10 Rapids swimmers that made the trip came away with a haul that even the Cookie Monster would have to envy.
Each of the swimmer, which ranged in age from seven to 17, competed in the maximum six events they were allowed, picking from a total of 17 events at the meet. While a total number personal bests wasn’t immediately available, Splinter was more than happy with all of the results put up by his club.
One special mention for the meet went to the Rapids’ Makayla Sheppard.
Sheppard achieved her “B” provincial qualifying time in the 50m butterfly.
