Barrhead Composite High School’s track field was action-filled last Tuesday, when hundreds of Pembina Hill students competed in the annual Divisional Track Meet.
BCHS had 103 students in the meet, 34 of whom qualified for zones, which are at Fowler Park in St. Albert on June 4. In order to qualify, they had to place first or second in their event.
Pembina Hills also awards the top overall athlete for each gender in each grade level. This year two BCHS students were awarded. Morgan McKain won the award for Grade 8 girls, placing first in 400m, second in high jump and shotput, and fourth in turbo javelin.
Levi Coutu won the award for Grade 7 boys. He placed first in all four events (100m, 200m, high jump, and triple jump). Coutu was the only student in all of Pembina Hills to win first in four events this year.
