Last Tuesday, Edwin Parr Composite School (EPC) celebrated what Aspen View School associate superintendent Mark Francis characterized as its single most successful athletics season in recent memory.
During his opening remarks at the annual athletics banquet and silent auction, Francis said many EPC teams made it to provincials in their respective sports.
Highlights for the 2012ñ2013 season included the cross-country team finishing fifth in the province and the junior varsity girlsí basketball team winning the North Central Zone Championship.
ìWhen I played sports, I was the guy who got the brown participation ribbon,î said Francis, deferring to the athletes being recognized. It was an evening of video clips, laughter and stories ranging from the football player who played with a broken hand (Gaetano Minto) to the exchange student who gave a boost to the cheerleading team (Mari Yamashita).
