The Barrhead Pirates played a tough preseason game on Sunday, Oct. 5, against the Drayton Valley Norette Oilers.
The game was a nail biter from the start, and parents could be heard clearly from the stands cheering on their players.
The first period proved successful for both teams, with a goal for the Pirates within minutes of starting the game.
Mitch Carstairs scored the first goal for the Pirates.
The Oilers were not long to follow suit, scoring two goals within the period.
One penalty was handed out to the Oilers for Slashing at 7:32.
The second period went to the Pirates, after scoring yet another goal, this time Justin Haltiner scoring for the team. Haltiner was assisted by Frank Scholten and Carstairs.
During the second period both teams saw penalties roughing and high checking.
The Oilers scored during the third period, taking the lead from the Pirates.
Shortly after the Pirates redeemed themselves by scoring two goals, the first by Haltiner, assisted by Carstairs, and Scholten.
The last goal of the game was scored by Carstairs and was assisted by Nick Botros, and Robert Geis.
The game ended on a high note for the team, with a final score of 4-3.
