For the second straight week Barrhead Composite High School played host to a junior high school track meet, but this time it was for the bragging rights of not only one school.
On Tuesday, May 26, students from all over Pembina Hills School Division converged on the sports fields behind BCHS to see who could run the fastest, throw the farthest or jump higher or longer during the divisional track meet.
Grade 7 to 9 athletes from six Pembina North schools in Dapp, R.F. Staples and St. Mary in Westlock, Neerlandia Public Christian School, Eleanor Hall School in Clyde and BCHS competed in a dozen track and field events ranging from the 100-metre dash, to the high jump and shot put.
In order to qualify to compete in the divisional track meet athletes had to finish in the top three or four depending on the event in individual school track meets. The meet at BCHS concludes the junior high school track and field season.
