The Barrhead Bantam Pirates secured their place in the A division final completing the round robin portion of an eight team Bantam hockey tournament at the Agrena on the weekend of Dec. 11 to 13.

The Pirates won their first game on Friday night defeating the Sherwood Park Warriors by a score of four to two.

The team wasn’t as fortunate in their second game when they faced a pesky team from the South East Edmonton Recreation Association (SEERA). The SEERA team defeated Barrhead by a score of 5 to 1 on the strength of superior goaltending.

In the last game of the round robin the Pirates faced a tough test from New Serepta on Sunday.

In the first period the Pirates took an early lead, scoring in the first five minutes on a goal by Brendan Bujold.

New Serpeta tied the game close to the mid point of the second period.

In the third period the Pirates took command of the game on three goals by Bujold, Luke Szybunka and Brayden Bay.

Hunter Ricci recorded the win stopping 20 out of 22 shots.
