Barrhead shines during weekend tournament

The Barrhead Atom Hawks and Elks were host to a tournament on Nov. 14, 15, and 16, starting off on a winning streak.

The Barrhead Hawks played the A final game against the Edmonton Hawks, losing to the team earlier that morning.

Barrhead played a strong first period, keeping the puck on Edmonton’s side of the ice.

At 4:14 Edmonton scored the first goal of the game, shortly followed by a penalty shot at 52:2.

Edmonton player, Ethan Short took the shot for the team, deking around the goalie and scoring it between the posts.

Before hitting the ice for the second period, the teams took a few moments to talk strategy, with Barrhead showing it later in the game.

During the second period Barrhead played an even strong offensive game.

At 5:15 Barrhead went for a breakaway goal, missing by mere inches.

Going into the third period with a score of 2-0 for Edmonton, proved to kick Barrhead into gear.

The team started the period off shothanded, but managed to keep it in the Edmonton’s side of the ice.

At 2:26 Barrhead scored a breakaway goal shorthanded after player Koby Miller received a penalty for tripping.

Barrhead Hawks played a strong tournament, over the weekend, winning their first game against the Sturgeon Mustangs on Friday 8-0.

On Saturday, the team plaed the Edmonton Brave Raiders, with a winning score of 26-2.

Sunday morning proved harder for the team during their game against the Edmonton Hawks, with a final score of 1-6, bringing Barrhead into the gold medal game.
