BCHS senior girls zones qualifier at home

On March 11 and 12 Barrhead Composite High School hosted a six team senior girls basketball tournament to see who would be the North Central Zone Champions and represent the zone in the Provicial Championships.

On March 11 and 12 Barrhead Composite High School hosted a six team senior girls basketball tournament to see who would be the North Central Zone Champions and represent the zone in the Provicial Championships.

In the opening game, Barrhead Gryphons, ranked fourth, took on the sixth ranked Hilltop Chargers. Right from the opening tip off the Gryphons dominated Whitecourt. At the end of the first quarter Barrhead led the Chargers 17 to 9. By halftime the Gryphons increased their lead to 29 to 13 and by the end, the score was 49 to 29 for Barrhead.

The Gryphons moved on to face the Morinville Wolves in their second game, on Sat., March 12. Despite all their efforts and a slew of fouls, both independantly and as a team, the Gryphons lost 43-59.

Barrhead finished the tournament in fourth place.
