Players, coaches, volunteers, families and friends packed the gym to watch as plaques, medals and certificates were handed out as the Barrhead Minor Hockey Association held their annual awards night on April 13 in the east gym at Barrhead Composite High School.

The atmosphere was positively charged with excitement and laughter, as players were honoured for their hard work and dedication to year filled with triumphs and heartbreak. Every age group and division was given recognition for their accomplishments.

“We had a very successful year. That speaks highly of the parents, volunteers, coaches and players of the association,” said association president Larry Knapp.

“I can’t speak enough about the fantastic support we had off the ice,” said Barrhead peewee Flyers coach Glen Starman.

Some players were singled out as Most Improved, Most Dedicated and Most Sportsmanlike, to name a few. Plaques were also handed out to players who demonstrated unparalleled team leadership, both on and off the ice.

A Coach of the Year award was added to the honours given out this year.
