Silver medals were the prize for Boyle School’s senior girls volleyball team at their annual Running With The Dogs tournament last weekend.
Held at the school, the tournament welcomed five visiting teams to compete with the local girls for supremacy on the court.
The Boyle School Huskies won three of their five round-robin games to advance to the final game against Thorsby. The ultra competitive final went back and forth with both teams trading the advantage numerous times, but it was ultimately Thorsby that came out on top, earning the gold medal. But the Huskies turned in a golden effort of their own.
“We wanted to be in the top two, and we succeeded in that,” said team coach Carolyn Anderson. “I’m happy with the way we played today. There was great volleyball from both teams (in the final).”
One member of the Huskies, Sam Getty, was also proud of the effort her team put in.
“It was pretty important that we do well (in our home tournament),” she said.
The Huskies played a game on Monday (after press time) for the right to advance to the upcoming zone competition. This weekend, they will hold their annual Red-Eye tournament on Friday night.
