The AA North Central Bulls midget hockey team has had a challenging season so far, and last Friday they lost another game.

The team played at the Athabasca Regional Multiplex against Edmonton’s Knights of Columbus Colts and lost 8-1.

“The kids played real well in the first period,” said coach Gil Dubrule. “They played with energy and within the systems that we wanted. They took a few penalties more than we wanted them to.”

In the second period, the Bulls started with a 2-0 disadvantage.

“Both of their goals were power-play goals,” Dubrule said about the Colts’ goals scored in the first period. “The second period came along; the kids decided they should (parade) to the penalty box. We took seven or eight penalties in the second.”

According to Dubrule, the KC Colts is a good team that excels on power plays.

“I think it was 4-0 after the second period,” Dubrule said. “After that, the kids decided to go for more penalties.”

Dubrule said the first period was well played, and he told the players so.

“They had a great first period; however, then the wheels fell off the train,” Dubrule said. “It is costing us, and we can’t seem to figure out what the obsession is.”

Dubrule encourages people to come out and watch a game or two.

“There are several more games over the next few weeks. It is good action; people should come watch,” he said.

Their next home game is in Boyle on Nov. 24 at 4 p.m.
