Six teams gathered to test their curling skills Feb. 7-8 at the Athabasca Curling Club's seniors bonspiel at the Athabasca Regional Multiplex.

Stafford, Dick, Lemay, Stevenson, LeMessurier, and Demcoe teams squared off for a series of matches, with the LeMessurier team taking the overall win.

The LeMessurier team included Perry LeMessurier, Wendy Lisowec, Wendy Yakowchuk and Paul Lisowec.

Ed Patry, who marked his 12th year attending, said the event was excellent.

"Ever since I started curling I've been coming to this, and even though there are few less teams this year, it is still a great event," he said. "On our team we draw names so you don't have a choice on who's team you're on."

Event organizer Faye Stevenson said most of the teams were local, with the only visiting team being from Plamondon.

"The Lemay team is from Plamondon, the rest are locals," she said.

Senior curler Bob Demcoe said he has been coming to the event for about five years and enjoys the camaraderie.

"We have a great time with it — nice annual kind of event that we get to interplay with a lot of league people, and that's what it's about," he said.
