The Barrhead baseball diamonds saw a lot of action over the weekend as six Barrhead County Ball Midget teams competed in a action packed two-day tournament. The tournament ran from 7 p.m. Friday night to around 5 p.m. Saturday, with each team guaranteed at least two games.
Balls were pitched with speed, players dashed from base to base, and many outfielders made heroic catches bringing loud cheers from the crowds.
The talented players were lucky enough to see nothing but clear skies up until the final championship game at 4 p.m. Saturday, where Summerdale and MTM players worked hard to best one another.
Unfortunately the winner was determined not by the end of the ninth inning, but the torrential downpour that came over the field. After deciding the weather would not be letting up any time soon, the game was called and Summerdale was pronounced the winner with a score of 15-17.
