The Edwin Parr Composite JV girls basketball team won their zone championship last weekend.
The local school hosted the season-ending tournament, and the EPC girls came out on top to claim their first zone title.
“We had practiced so much for so long, and this year we finally got to prove ourselves,” said co-captain Dana Doerkson.
Her fellow captain, Robyn Chrunyk, was equally excited by the win.
“This weekend we did it for our injured players and Janelle (Tarrant, coach). We wanted to make them proud.”
In recent years the girls had lost in the final, including last year in a close game to R.F. Staples from Westlock. This year the girls vanquished them with a 53-38 win in the final.
