After years of having two identities, Edwin Parr Composite’s student athletes will soon be united under one.

As local sports fans will know, the EPC boys sports teams have been known as the Pacers for many years. The girls teams, meanwhile, have been known as the Angels. But once school reconvenes in September for the 2011-12 school year and athletic season, all EPC athletes will proudly go by one name; Predators.

Staff at the school voted on the name change, with 20 potential names being whittled down to the top three. Predators edged out Prowl and Pirates.

The school colors of green and white will be maintained, with some black added in. The different variations of the logo (both ‘P’ and ‘EPC’) all depict a pair of clawed paws reaching around the letters.

Though some might miss the Pacers and the Angels, it’s important to have one name for all, according to coach Wade Hicks.

“It unites us as one group, which was our main focus,” he said.
