The Barrhead Midget Steelers won't be playing any home, or away games in the near future, or at least for the time being.
With the season still not assigned, the team is left sitting on the bench about where there season is headed.
The plan to move forward is still not clear, and it seems as though the parents are not pleased.
Hockey season is just about to start, and after several meetings it is still unknown as to whether or not the Steelers are welcome in any league.
According to Jason Murrell, coach of the Steelers, the Barrhead Minor Hockey League (BMHL) is doing everything they can to get them in.
When it comes to where they go from here it is still unsure, but the team has managed to dominate in all of the games they have played with the 1660 league.
The Steelers were playing so they could be placed in the proper tier, and potentially play some games this season, however it seems as though even those games are uncertain.
For the past two years the team has started the season off similarly to this year, and has moved on to the North Central Hockey League (NCL). The plan for this season, due to the lack of competing teams, was to move straight to the NCL, however after some miscommunication the team missed out on their chance.
Debates were held over the course of several meetings with the NCL on letting the team still join the league, but in the meantime the 1660 welcomed them back with open arms.
Once the Steelers were in and playing however, and the tiering games were over, they were left standing in their skates with their sticks in their hands, unsure of where to go from there.
According to Murrell the team played very strongly during those tiering games, and even played an additional game that wasn't originally scheduled, however after defeating all of the teams, the 1660 league said it was too much.
The league has decided that the Steelers shouldn't play this season, mostly due to how strong the team is, and how well they play against the other Midget teams in the league.
With the BMHL fighting for the Steelers to get in it is still unclear as to whether or not there will be any upcoming games, whether they be on home ice, or any ice.
