The ice has barely melted on the 2012/2013 season, but the Westlock Minor Hockey Association is recruiting hockey players for next year.
Registration for players from three to 17 years old will be held at the Westlock Aquatic Centre between 6:30-8:30 p.m. on May 28-29.
'We're hoping we get all of the registrations," said WMHA president Denise Boulerice. 'Or at least most of the registrations that day because we're implementing a $100 late fee. It's just because our upper divisions - Bantam and Midget - always end up with strange projection numbers, like a team and a half, then we end up talking to other associations."
Boulerice is offering information about the league that day and in advance by phone for those who are interested in joining the roster this season. She noted there is a 10 per cent increase in registration fees this season as association, ice, league and referee costs have increased.
'We checked the neighbouring associations like Barrhead, Athabasca and Sturgeon," she said.
'And we're still well under what they are. We're way under the city leagues, they're paying like twice or three times what we're paying."
Prices vary based on age, ranging from $165 for initiation players to about $620 for third year midget players. Registration forms can be downloaded from the minor hockey website in advance. 'Hopefully we'll get a good turnout," she said.
