Not only was it a perfect day to play baseball, but for the hometown Barrhead Orioles, the result was perfect.

Playing in front of about 100 fans at the Barrhead Sportsground, the Orioles narrowly defeated their big city rivals, the Sherwood Park Athletics 5 to 4 on Sunday, May 10.

The Athletics took an early lead out scoring the Orioles 4 to 0 by the top of the third inning.

However, the Orioles had a strong bottom of the inning scoring four runs.

The teams blanked the fourth and fifth innings before the Orioles scored what was the winning run in the sixth inning.

The Orioles are a senior AA team, who play in the 10 team North Central Alberta Baseball League. This is their second year back in the league after more than a 10 year absence.
