The Barrhead Figure Skating Club has been keeping its skaters busy, and will continue to do so as several members prepare for a number of events in the months to come.
Last month, the club hosted skaters from Athabasca, Whitecourt, Drayton Valley, Leduc, and Edmonton for a test day Jan. 18.

Eight skaters recently traveled to Edson, where they competed at the Northwest Regional Open on Jan. 24-26.
Emma Botros, Emma Albers, Deanna Klein, ShayLynn Sanderson, Katie Magill, Jocelyn Smith, Alyssa Albertson and Amanda Horner participated in the event.
Three skaters were successful in achieving medals in their events. Sanderson took home a gold medal in the Star 5 Freeskate, and Smith earned herself a bronze medal. Botros landed a silver ribbon in Star 2 event, and Albers won a bronze ribbon in Star 2 event.
Coming up, Horner will be attending the Calgary Winter Invitational on Feb. 14 to 16, where she will compete in the Pre-Novice Short Program and Pre-Novice Freeskate events.
A number of skaters from the club will also be competing in the 19th Annual STARSkate Peace Invitational, which takes place March 21-23 in Grand Prairie.

The date for the Barrhead Figure Skating Club’s most anticipated annual event has been set. The club will be holding their Carnival on March 15 at the Barrhead Agrena.
The club is working to dazzle the audience at their annual Carnival, “Red Carpet Entertainment” as the chosen 2014 theme. Skaters at all levels are currently busy practicing and preparing for the big event. Tickets will go on sale soon.
