Pirates play Calmar in weekend game

The Barrhead Bantam Pirates, tier two, played the Calmar Cobras on Oct. 18, at the Barrhead Agrena.

The Barrhead Bantam Pirates, tier two, played the Calmar Cobras on Oct. 18, at the Barrhead Agrena.

Only 37 seconds after the puck hit the ice the Pirates managed to score a goal, with the first attained by Nick Botros, and assisted by Justin Haltiner.

One minute later another goal was scored by Pirates’ player Haltiner, and assisted by William McKeever.

At 14:35 Frank Scholten, Pirates player, scored a goal with the assistance of Robert Geis.

Ace Marquez was the next Pirate to score a goal during the first period, but wasn’t the last.

At 11:17 Tate Schmidt scored for the Barrhead team, assisted by Marquez. Seconds later Frank Scholten scored, with the help of Schmidt.

The final goal of the period was a breakaway goal by Botros.

The two teams headed into the second period with a score of 7-0.

During the first period Cobras’ player Chace Cole received two penalties, the first at 15:43 for slashing, with the second at 9:08 for tripping, both penalties were two minutes.

The second period meant several more goals for the Pirates. The first was scored at 15:44 by McKeever.

The second goal for the team during the second period was by Botros, at 5:02, landing himself a hat trick for the game.

At 3:09, Pirates’ player Haltiner scored a goal for the team.

Schmidt scored another goal for the team at 2:02.

The Cobras also scored a goal during the second period, with player Bryden Mcammond scoring for the team.

Each team received penalties during the second period, with the Pirates taking two penalties, one for kneeing by player Jeremy Kelly, with the other to Owen Weeks for charging.

The Cobras received a penalty for goalie tripping, with Cobra Jacob Walker taking the penalty. Walker took the penalty after the goalie tripped a Pirates player during the second period after the team had scored a goal and the whistle was blown.

Each of the penalties given was two minutes.

The score by the end of the second was 11-1.

Going into the third the Cobras stepped up their game, fighting for the puck at each opportunity.

The Pirates managed two goals during the third, the first at 13:19, by Marquez, with the second by Haltiner, at 4:12.

The only penalty given in the third was to Haltiner for cross checking.

The final score of the game was 13-1 for the Pirates.
