A new executive has taken on the task of operating the local snowmobile club with hopes of reinvigorating it.

While Dave Bilsky remained as president of the Athabasca River Runners Snowmobile Club following its annual general meeting last month, he will have two new vice-presidents to work with in Jim Olson and Cory Jardine.

Alongside them is the new secretary and membership coordinator Leah Olson and treasurer Lynn Olson, while Dennis Irving will be heading up trail projects.

Club spokesperson Jean Bilsky explained that seeing some new and younger members taking on leadership roles in the club will likely translate into some new ways on how to get things done.

“With all the new young people, the hope is that they will bring with them some new ideas and also hopefully bring along some more new members,” she said.

“It’s a very good crew that is taking over.”

Anyone interested in obtaining a club membership can stop by Athabasca Outdoor or stop in at the club’s next meeting Dec. 10 at 7:30 p.m. at the clubhouse west of town.

The club has also finalized Feb. 21 for their annual rally.
