The Westlock Junior Rock have returned to the winner's circle after a dominant third period in Sunday's home game against the Vermilion Roar.
Trailing by three goals at the end of the second, the team took it to another level and pounded in six straight to take the game 9-6.
'They seem to be playing really well in the third lately," said coach Mike Ivey. 'They are a come-from-behind team and it shows our conditioning is paying off."
It was a game played in two parts as the Rock scored three early in the first and then parked the wagon for 30 minutes as the game slipped away.
'The second was tight and they had a good lead," Ivey said.
As the third started, the team was on a mission and slammed in goal after goal.
All lines were firing and every player was working all parts of the court.
They say the best offence is a good defense and the Rock's forward line proved that, often not allowing the visitors out of their defensive zone.
Apart from an incident in the second that resulted in an ejection that drew a slew of penalties, the Rock were highly disciplined with the team only drawing five infractions.
Scott Ivy had another big day at the office, picking up three goals and an assist, with a further eight players netted at least one point.
Earlier in the week the Rock played away against the Edmonton Warriors and scored a 14-13 win.
The Rock have five games left in their season and still sit top division but have lost first place in the conference to Fort Saskatchewan.
Next weekend's double header at the Spirit Centre is the last time the team will play at home before the playoffs.
'We want to keep riding this momentum, we're on fire as of late, playing really good lacrosse and we just want to keep that going," Ivey said.
