Are you ready for pulse-pounding action? Yes? Then visit Sangudo on Saturday, July 6 for a bull riding spectacular.
Some of the best bull riders in Canada, US, New Zealand and Australia will be showing off their amazing skills at the Sangudo Sports Grounds.
However, the excitement doesn’t end there. There will also be Mexican Poker.
The rules are simple: cowboys sit at a table playing cards while a bull is let loose among them. The last cowboy sitting is the winner.
Is anyone brave enough to take up the challenge? Is anyone reckless enough?
If last year is any guide, there should be plenty of people ready to put their bodies on the line.
Once the dust has settled, the action will continue upstairs in the arena with a dance.
This will be the second annual “bull riding and dance” hosted by the Sangudo and District Agricultural Society.
The event is geared towards the family. The weekend will also see a slow pitch tournament, parade and children’s games.
Organisers say family and friends may wish bring their RV and enjoy camping along the river.
The fun will begin with the parade, then the kids’ games at the sports ground during the afternoon.
“The ball teams will be competing all weekend,” the Ag society says. “Plans are in the works for a community supper, concession and beer gardens.”
Bulls will bust out of the chutes at 6:30 p.m.
The Sangudo &District Ag Society is looking for sponsorship for the event, with advertising opportunities on offer.
“If your company or group would like a sponsorship table up close and personal with the riders and bulls, we will be happy to accommodate you,” the society says.
Busing from Onoway, Whitecourt and other local areas will be available. Tickets will be sold at the door.
