As Impact Volleyball Camp celebrates its 10th year it will be returning to Barrhead this summer.

The camp will be held at Barrhead Composite High School between Aug. 11 and 15.

“We have a great coaching staff lined up with a lot of international representation,” said IVC managing director Nathan Bennett last week. “We are excited about that.”

Bennett said he would try to come to Barrhead himself, a hectic summer schedule permitting.

In its anniversary year, IVC has announced Baden as its official ball.

Baden Sports Canada saw what IVC was doing and was happy to become a partner in the effort to bring young athletes a world-class experience. IVC brings professional volleyball players from around the world to coach youth and share their experiences in becoming and being pro athletes.

Bennett, a 12-year pro-player originally from Athabasca, received the Coach of the Year award last year from the Pacific Western Athletic Conference while he was the head coach for the men’s volleyball team at Capilano University. He is currently the assistant coach for the men’s and women’s volleyball programs at Thompson Rivers University in Kamloops B.C. Nathan is also the head coach for the boys 17U Team B.C. and will be competing in Edmonton this summer at the Western Elites Championships. Nathan will be joining IVC in Sherwood Park this summer.

Returning to IVC 10 as camp director is pro-player Michael Amaroso. From Toronto, Ontario, Michael played on the provincial team for four years, winning a silver medal at the 2009 Canada Games. Michael played on the junior national team in 2008 and 2009 and played five years at Queen’s University, where he was a conference All Star three seasons and his team won the Ontario league in 2010 and 2012. Last year Michael play for Örkelljunga Volleyball Club in Sweden and this year for Panathinaikos Athletic Club in Greece.

Impact Volleyball Camp offers athlete sponsorship through their program IVC Cares. This fund grants discounted or free registration to athletes who would not be able to attend camp without financial help. IVC Cares awards up to $1,200 a year to athletes who apply or are nominated by coaches for assistance. Find out more about IVC Cares at: http://impactvolleyballcamp.com/ivc-cares/

Early registration runs from March through April and saves families $50 off regular camp prices. IVC offers $25 off for friend referrals and family discounts.

Some of IVC’s commitments are to remain the best value for money camp in Alberta and BC, to always offer a unique experience with the pros, and to make a positive, lasting impression as an inspiration to the future of volleyball.
