A new club record was one of the accomplishments made at the recent Sinclair Challenge competition at the Athabasca Weightlifting Club.
The Challenge, held Oct. 26 at the Multiplex, saw four lifters compete with Aashna Mann setting club records in the 63 kilogram youth categories in both the snatch and clean and jerk.
Aimeer Miller was the top female in the 75 kg category established club records on her best lifts in both the snatch and clean and jerk.
The best male lifter was 12-year-old Sam Path in the 69 kg category, who lifted 27 kg in his first attempt in the snatch then followed with a pair of unsuccessful lifts at 30 kg. He was able to get good lifts at 34 and 37 kg in the clean and jerk,
Mann and Patz’s results were good enough to qualify for the Alberta Junior Provincials in December in Calgary.
