Boyle School’s senior high volleyball teams wrapped up their seasons at zone tournaments on the weekend.

The boys Huskies were in Westlock, where they won silver.

“They did really well. I’m really proud of them,” said coach Joel Sawka.

In the finals, the boys were up against Grand Trunk, and lost in two tight sets (16-15, 25-19)

“They were pretty heartbroken. They really wanted to take zones,” said the coach. “It was a really good effort. They were happy and sad by the end of it.”

The girls team, meanwhile, was in Drayton Valley, where they lost out in the semi-finals against Thorsby.

“They played very well,” said coach Carolyn Anderson.

The Huskies came in third in their round robin pool, and beat the host team to advance to the semi finals. Their loss to Thorsby was quite close (25-21, 25-23).

“They were happy with the way they played, but disappointed that they didn’t go on.”
