GATINEAU, Que. — Joey Vetrano netted the shootout winner as the Gatineau Olympiques squeezed past the Halifax Mooseheads 3-2 Wednesday in a battle of second-place teams from each conference.

Isaac Belliveau and Alexis Gendron scored in regulation for Gatineau (32-12-4-2). Francesco Lapenna made 38 saves between regulation and overtime.

Jordan Dumais and Josh Lawrence replied for Halifax (35-7-4-3), which got 33 stops from Mathis Rousseau.

Belliveau scored the game-tying goal at 13:41 of the third frame before a shootout period that went nine rounds and saw the Olympiques score four times to the Mooseheads' three.
