September 21, 1960 - February 22, 2020

Allen Mayan passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on February 22, 2020. Allen was born on September 21, 1960, in Barrhead, AB. He grew up on the family farm and married the love of his life, Vicki in 1978. They moved to Hinton in 1980. Allen worked at Cardinal River Coal and then earned his heavy-duty mechanic journeyman ticket while working for the Department of Transportation. Allen worked for Woodlands Garage and later for Hinton Wood Products until his health declined and he was unable to work anymore. Allen enjoyed spending time fishing, riding his various motorcycles - most notably his Harley. In the last few years, he was often seen driving his battery-powered scooter all over town. Left behind to grieve is his wife of almost 42 years, Vicki; children, Brandy (Dan) Rooks, Opal (Jeremy) Mayan, Jesse, Heather (Andrew) MacDonald; his grandchildren; Andrea (Dylan), Maeghan, Calli, Ava, Myles and his very special great-granddaughter, Peyton. Also surviving Allen is his mother, Blanche; brothers; Blaine (Pauline), Neal, Les (Maureen); sister, Heather (Morgan); mother-in-law Patti; sisters-in-law, Connie (Darrel) and Laurie (Leslie); brother’s in law, David (Jaime) and Vern (Danielle) along with numerous nieces, nephews and a multitude of friends. Predeceasing Allen was his father Ken; his father-in-law Harry; mother-in-law Irma along with his grandparents. The family would like to thank the wonderful staff of the Hinton Continuing Care Centre and the Hinton Healthcare Centre for the love and kindness they showed Allen. In keeping with Allen’s wishes, there will be a Celebration of Life at a later date. In lieu of flowers, the family request donations be made to the Linda Johnson Resident Care Foundation.
