It is with deep regret that we announce the passing of our Mom, Grandmother and Great Grandmother, on September 26, 2022 at the age of 88 years. Elvera Arnold (nee Bredeson) was born on December 9, 1933 in Barrhead AB. She lived in the Mosside area and attended school at Beecliff.

She lived on the family farm until she married John James (Jack) Arnold and moved to the Summerdale area. She lived on the farm until just before she passed away.

Elvera drove school bus for the County of Barrhead for 20 years.

She was also a member of the Barrhead Gem Seekers club for many years, she belonged toThe Order of Royal Purple club where she was a Bingo caller, she was a member of The Royal Canadian Legion Ladies Auxiliary where she was also a Bingo caller and Bingo chairperson, after they disbanded she remained a member of The Barrhead Legion. Where she remained the Bingo chairperson and called Bingo until she retired at age 85. She was also a longtime member of Summerdale Community, where she ran Bingos, and helped with the music Jamborees and fundraisers.

Elvera is predeceased by her husband, John James (Jack) Arnold; her son, Bruce Arnold; parents, Lottie and Brede Bredeson; brothers, Miller and Alvin Bredeson. She is survived by her daughter, Sandra (Theo); grandchildren, Mary-Anne (Tim), Jonathan (Kirsten); great-grandchildren, Leon and Miles; brother, Clive Bredeson (Elsie); sisters-in-law, Irene Bredeson and Phyllis Arnold. As well as many nieces and nephews.

Special thanks to Alice and Gene Schmaus for looking out for Mom, to Dr. Wepener and the staff at Barrhead Continuing Care Centre for their compassionate care.

A private family internment will be held at Mosside United Church Cemetery, on October 7, 2022.

With a Celebration of Life to follow at the Barrhead Senior Centre at 2 PM.

In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Alzheimer’s Society of Alberta and NWT and the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Alberta, NWT & Nunavut.
