November 6, 1958 - March 9, 2024
August Wilhelmus Johannes Weimer
(affectionately known as Gus) sadly passed
away on March 9th, 2024 following a long
battle with illness at the age of 65.
Born and raised in Amsterdam, he immigrated to
Canada in his late teens with his immediate family.
His passion for cars and all things mechanical drove
him to attain his Red Seal in mechanics.
After operating his mechanic’s shop
for several years, he decided to pursue a degree in
Education. He fused his passions for mechanics and
teaching when he accepted a position at R F Staples
Secondary School in Westlock as their Automotives
instructor. A natural teacher, Gus found great satisfaction
imparting practical knowledge and skills to his students.
He departed R F Staples to work for P.C.L., and in the
following years enjoyed camping with family & friends.
A lifelong music lover, Gus played guitar (and sometimes
sang/yodelled) around the campfire and in several bands,
including with his siblings, “Blue Moss”, and “Staff
Infection” with fellow R F Staples staff. Gus was also an
active member of the Busby & District Lions Club.
Gus is survived by his wife of 15 years, Terry (Theresa)
Brenneis. His daughter Natasha (Mike) Yakimowich & his
grandson Dorian. He is also survived by his stepchildren
Amber Brenneis, and Terra (Richard) Hawkins, as well as
step grandchildren Mykenzie & Hudson Hawkins. He also
leaves to mourn his brother Juri (Lisa) Weimer, and his
sister Frieda (Dan) Mykiwka and their families. He was
predeceased by his parents Jurianus & Maria Weimer.
As per Gus’s wishes there will be no funeral.
