Zeny Blanchette

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Zeny Blanchette (nee Bykowski), our wife, mother and grandmother, on February 7, 2021 at the age of 65.

Zeny will be greatly missed by her loving husband Clem of 37 years, daughters Darlene (Desmond) and Valerie (Darcy), sons Mark (Elizabeth) and Colin (Sharla); grandchildren Maverick & Hudson, Tanis, Taryn, Tyler & Hayden, Megan, Brooklyn, Kaitlin, & Jackson; brothers Michael and Larry (Maureen), sister Patricia (Vegans), and many nephews and nieces. She is predeceased by her parents Samuel & Bernice, brother David, mother-in-law Yvonne, and sister-in-law Laura.

Zeny was born and raised in Edmonton and St Albert. After marrying her husband Clem in 1984 and starting their family in Barrhead, they moved to the Blanchette family farm near Vimy. She took great pride in raising four children, growing her garden and many flower patches, and providing excellent home cooked meals for friends & family. She dedicated many hours to 4H and other youth organizations. Although she was a quiet presence in large groups, she was quick to chime in with a witty quip to crack everyone up.

She loved to travel. With Clem by her side, she revisited their honeymoon destinations of Australia and New Zealand in recent years, and embarked on many family trips in years past. She also enjoyed going to dinner theatres, rides in the farm equipment, and most importantly, visiting with family and friends.

Thank you to all friends and family for your support throughout Zeny’s journey.

A Visitation will be held from 5-8pm., on Wednesday, February 17, 2021 at Connelly-McKinley St. Albert Funeral Home. A Private Funeral Service will be held for the immediate family on February 18, 2021 at 2pm. For those wishing to view the service or leave condolences, please visit www.connelly-mckinley.com

Those who wish to make a donation in Zeny’s memory may do so to the Stollery Children’s Hospital Foundation.
