Norma Jean Blosser
Norma Jean Blosser, beloved wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, passed away on January 21, 2021, surrounded by family in the home she and our Dad shared at Linden Lodge.
Mom was born to Eric and Mae Elgert, January 19, 1939, at Smoky Creek, Alberta. She was raised on a rural homestead and attended a one-room school through grade nine at Smoky Creek. She graduated high school in 1956 at Smith, Alberta and went on to earn her University of Alberta teaching certificate. She taught primary grades for four years at Ellscott and Smith. Later in life she also enjoyed teaching Kindergarten in Athabasca and Colinton for fifteen years.
Mom was a devoted follower of Jesus Christ from age eight when she realized her need of a Savior and was baptized at Bethany Mennonite Church. She and Dad demonstrated lives of faithful service to Christ and others. She loved flowers, gardening and quilting and generously gifted family and friends through her talents over the years. From childhood she was an avid reader and shared her love of books with her children and students.
Her romance with Dad (Elvin Blosser) began in 1959; they were married in 1961 and have been sweethearts for almost sixty years. Together they modelled godly wisdom and patience as they raised four children. As their family grew, Mom cherished her grandchildren and great-grandchildren just as unconditionally.
She will be greatly missed by Dad, their four children: Sharon (Randy) Neilson; Kelly (Donald) Pauly; Carla (Laurie) Newsham; Kevin (Dana) Blosser; thirteen grandchildren and thirteen great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her siblings: Raymond (Debbie) Elgert, Linda (Rick) Pringle, Michael Elgert, sister-in-law, Laurel Donaldson, and numerous nieces and nephews.
Mom was looking forward to heaven. We are comforted by our memories of her and the knowledge that she is safe in the arms of Jesus.
