BOYD, Lorne Robert

After 99 trips around the sun, countless adventures and a lifetime of memories, Lorne reached his final destination on June 16, 2021.

Dad will be remembered for the twinkle in his eye, his generous heart and kind spirit, his quick wit and ready chuckle, his unconditional love for his family, loyalty to his friends, as well as his timely cryptic comments about whatever annoyed him!

He loved a good joke, growing his garden, any sport (especially when the athletes were his kids, grandkids or great grandkids), catching up on the latest news, a lively argument, the unexpected surprises that came his way and all the ‘extra’ kids who over the years he took under his wing and become their pops.

Lorne called Westlock his home for over 96 years. In 1944, he married the love of his life Daisy Nelson and they settled into a busy life raising their family. Lorne was an amazing auto body mechanic, which many apprentices can attest to, honing his skills with his father-in-law Abe, then moving on to work at Dohertys, and finally with Rex Dawson’s for the majority of his career.

Lorne and Daisy were always actively involved in various community activities. Lorne loved to coach and was often seen at the hockey rink or on a ball diamond.

Dad leaves to carry on his legacy his children, Dan (Mae), Bob (Linda), Wayne (Hazel), Bonnie (Bill), Kim, Jim, daughter-in-law Cathy, Lynn (Rita), grandchildren: Sheila (Geoff), Stephen (Kim), Scott, Lissa (Jesse), Rob (Katherine), Gill (Bobby), Christa (Trevor), Carmen (Arran), Michael, Ryan (Kurstin), Matt (Jenny) and Josh, as well as 18 (and 3/4) great grandchildren and 1 (and 3/4) great great grandchildren and his many extra kids.... definitely his most treasured accomplishment over 99 years! Dad was predeceased by Mom, two sons Michael and Fred, a daughter Shelley and daughter-in-law Nancy.

Dad, we will miss your epic hugs, your quiet chuckle, your quick wit and those mischievous grins, but so much of your essence continues to thrive on throughout your family..... who knew unconditional love, a passion for living and sarcasm were genetic?!

Cremation has taken place and a celebration of life is planned for September 11, at the Westlock Community Center, from 1:00 pm to 3:30 pm and program begins at 2:00 pm.

Please visit the Website Forevermissed.com and share your favourite memories and special stories.

A well lived life is filled with family, love, laughter, purpose, adventures, ups and downs, learning and leaving your patch of earth richer for the legacy you created..... you did it all and then some Dad and you did it your way!
