It is with deep sadness and much love that we announce the passing of Sarah Jane Brown on January 30, 2022. With her brother and sister-in-law at her side, Sarah’s decade-long struggle with pulmonary hypertension came to a peaceful close. Sarah was born and raised in the communities of Edmonton, Lamont and Barrhead, Alberta. She graduated from both the University of Alberta and the Northern Alberta Institute of Technology, and spent 25 years as a Medical Laboratory Technologist at the University of Alberta Hospital. Knitting, reading, and container gardening were some of Sarah’s passions, and spending time with family and friends, and of course her cats, brought much happiness.

Those left to remember and celebrate Sarah include her brother Alex and his wife Donna, of Armstrong, BC; niece Megan Hryniuk (Jason) of Peace River, AB; nephew Mitchell Brown (Vanessa) of Slave Lake, AB; cousins and friends from across Canada; and Cricket, her feline companion.

Following Sarah’s wishes, cremation has taken place and a celebration of her life will be held in the spring.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Sarah’s memory to the Edmonton Humane Society, University Hospital Foundation, The Leukaemia & Lymphoma Society of Canada, or The Edmonton Public Library Board.
