Gerard Arthur Caouette, passed away peacefully in his sleep, on October 17, 2020 at the age of 100, in Rocky Mountain House, AB.

Gerry was born on May 29, 1920 in Legal, Alberta on the family farm. He started his farming career at the early age of 14 when he quit school to help his ailing father put the crops in. In. 1951 he married Denise de Champlain and together they had seven children. They continued to farm the homestead until 1968, when they moved to Athabasca where he carried on farming. Gerry was predeceased by Denise in 1981. Through his love of dancing he met Joyce Squire and later married. They enjoyed traveling, fishing and many family gatherings. Unfortunately, Joyce passed away in 1992. Gerry was an avid bowler and card player especially crib. Playing cards led to meeting Rose Alice Patry, and they married in 2005. Together they enjoyed many years of laughter, companionship and family celebrations. Sadly, earlier this year Gerry lost Rose Alice. Gerry mourned the loss of his oldest son, Pierre in 2020 and daughter-in-law, Susanne in 2019.

Gerry will be mourned by his children Cecile Sawyer, Louise (John) Brandon, Elise Caouette (Clark Gasior), Ellen Caouette (Donnie Goodkey), Guy (Angela) Caouette, Bob (Carrie) Caouette, and numerous grandchildren, great and great-great-grandchildren, as well as many nieces, nephews and loving friends.

His family is very appreciative of the many friends that visited him at Park Avenue in Rocky Mountain House and the care of the dedicated staff.

A Funeral Mass was celebrated at 2 PM, on Wednesday, October 21, 2020, with Father Paulson Kannanaikal, CMI at St. Gabriel’s Roman Catholic Church. Interment followed at the Athabasca Cemetery.
