Marie Rita Denise Carnegie (Pelletier)

June 1, 1933 - January 19, 2023

It is with heavy hearts that the family announces the passing of Marie on Thursday evening January 19th, 2023. She passed away peacefully at the Westlock Healthcare Centre.

She was born on June 1, 1933 in River Que Barre, AB to her predeceased parents Octave and Florence Pelletier. Also predeceased by her brothers, Albert, Ernest and Walter Pelletier and her sister Emilienne (Pelletier) Hornick.

She is survived by her loving sisters Yvonne Reynolds, Irene Campbell, Paulette (Danny) Thompson and sister-in-law Linda Pelletier.

On November 20, 1952 Marie married the love of her life Robert Andrew Carnegie until Robert (Bob) passed away in August 1996. Her love for him always remained.

Robert (Bob) and Marie raised their seven children on the family farm at Shoal Creek, AB. Her sons Gordon Carnegie and Rick Carnegie predeceased her.

She will be forever remembered by her remaining children Colleen (Etienne) Johnson, Neil (Sandra) Carnegie, Bryan (Grace) Carnegie,Wendy (Dale) Berry, Nola Fulcher and daughter-in-law Mary Carnegie.

She will be sadly missed by all her grandchildren and their spouses, great grandchildren which she truly adored, relatives, in-laws, nieces, nephews, uncles, aunts as well as many many new and life long friends who have touched her life.

Marie worked hard to raise the family. The farm was a central gathering spot for both sides of the family. Many fond memories of her and family were made in the simple home. Marie always made sure there was room in the home for family and friends and always provided an extra plate or more at meal time for any and all company.

She was an avid volunteer throughout her life and would do whatever and whenever needed.

Although her gardening was a necessity on the farm her beautiful flowers were always part of the yard. She continued with her love and passion of flowers upon leaving the farm gaining the handle “The Flower Lady”. She has passed down her passion to many family members.

She enjoyed baking and more so sharing her baking with friends and family. Cookies and cupcakes were always a treat.

The family would like to extend a special Thank you to her doctor, Dr. Coulson, the nurses and staff at the Westlock Healthcare Centre for their compassionate care.

Thank you to the Westlock Funeral Home. For all those that have touched Marie’s (Mom’s) Life, we hope you find comfort knowing she is at rest and at peace in a better place joining her loved ones.

As a family we can not express the love, devotion, grace and compassion she provided throughout her life. She will be missed by all.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to the AHS Westlock Healthcare Centre Equipment Fund 10220 – 93 Street, Westlock, AB T7P 2G4 or a charity of one’s choice.

A service for family and friends will be held at a later date.
