CLAUDE STANLEY CHARROIS

October 14, 1937 - January 20, 2024

It is with great sadness that we announce the sudden passing of Claude Stanley Charrois. He passed away peacefully in Barrhead on January 20, 2024 at the age of 86.

Claude is predeceased by his first wife, Laura, parents Adrian and Edna Charrois, sister’s Rita Meads and Florence Chester.

He leaves behind his four children, Brad (Gillian), Michelle (Steve), Colette (Terry) and Douglas. His 10 grandchildren, Taylor, Jerod, Patrick, Jake, Carson, Camille, Cole, Destanee, Vivica and Elijah. And his 6 great-grandchildren, Ava, Cleo, C.J., Bryer, Amelia and Smith.

Claude is survived by his siblings Rolly Calnan, Diane Beck, Rene Charrois, Leona Johnson, Jean Schaffer, Raymond Charrois and Claudette Hodgson as well as their spouses and numerous nieces and nephews.

Claude is also predeceased by his second wife of 15 years, Georgina.

He is survived by her 5 children: Donna Crawford, Jerry (Elaine) Topola, Dianna (Alan) Hunter, Greg (Bev) Topola and Jina (Jim) Greilach, as well as 15 grandchildren and 28 great-grandchildren all of whom loved Grampa Claude very much!

Claude worked hard all his life. And in the early days he made a living through door-to-door sales selling fire alarms, Fuller brush, and insurance. Following that he became involved in Oil and Gas and moved into an instructional role at SAIT where he remained until 2002 when he officially retired.

Claude was a jack of all trades and had many hobbies. He was handy and creative and loved doing things for his family. He was a great carpenter and even tried his hand at making willow furniture and taxidermy. Claude was a Scout master in the early days and loved the outdoors. He enjoyed hunting and fishing and would take his family camping every summer to share that passion. Claude also enjoyed golfing, dancing, singing, and playing the harmonica. Family was very important to Claude and co-hosting family gatherings at their home in Braeside was something we all looked forward to, especially the annual Stampede Party. He made the little ones laugh by imitating Donald Duck and the adults with John Wayne. Claude was the life of the party, a master of joke telling and as such, had many friends wherever he went. Claude’s spirit will live on through his family and everyone else that knew and loved him dearly.

A Funeral Service will be held at Christ Lutheran Church in Mellowdale, AB on Saturday, February 3, 2024 at 1 pm. Pastor Don Schiemann officiating. Lunch and fellowship to follow. Donations gratefully accepted in memory of Claude to FCSS Barrhead, Christ Lutheran Church or Charity of Choice.
