CRAIG, Lawrence (Larry) Robert

Larry Craig, born in Barrhead, AB, on September 16, 1942, was called home on August 1, 2022, at the age of 79.
He is survived by his beloved wife of 30 years, Debbie Craig, and children Jody (Gil), Curtis (Cynthia), Jill (Mark) and stepchildren Chris (Nicole), Sean (Angela) and Michelle. He leaves behind his cherished grandchildren Shyra (Derrick), Robert, Caitlyn, Kelsey, Karson, McKenna, Xara and Xavier.
Larry was the oldest of five children. Surviving siblings are Shirley, Rick (Diane), Dave (Ginny) and Laurie (Roy) and numerous nieces and nephews.
Predeceased by his parents Ruby and Buck.
Larry graduated from the University of Alberta with an Education Degree and played for the Golden Bears hockey team. He loved playing hockey and played well into his 60s. He enjoyed teaching high school in Barrhead and St. Paul and was the Principal of Tiger Lily School. After leaving the education field, he found a new career and interest in the oilfield and he and his brother, Rick, started their own company.
In his early retirement years, he fulfilled his dream of spending winters in Arizona where he and Debbie were avid golfers and made many close friends. Larry loved riding horses, playing golf and playing cards. After an early diagnosis of Alzheimer’s, Larry and Debbie settled in Calgary to be closer to family. His personality was bigger than life, he always was willing to lend a hand and his smile would light up a room. He will be greatly missed and loved forever. Remember him with love and laughter.
Memorial Service to be held Saturday, August 27, 2022, at 2:00 pm at Knox United Church, in Didsbury, AB. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in his memory to the Alzheimer’s Society of Alberta.
