Mervin Allan Drews

April 27, 1956 – February 3, 2022

It is with great sadness to announce the passing of Mervin Allan Drews at the age of 65 years. Mervin passed away February 3, 2022 peacefully at home in Mayerthorpe, Alberta with his soul mate of many years Beth Rettie by his side. Mervin was born April 27, 1956 in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan.

Mervin is predeceased by his parents Herb and Esther Drews, his daughter Kassandra Rettie, brother-in-law Hemmy Klenke, and nephew Daniel Jacobson.

The family moved to the County of Barrhead in Alberta in 1967 and raised their children on the family farm just outside of the Town of Barrhead in Bloomsbury. Mervin’s parents had so much love to give that they had 9 beautiful children. Kenny (brother) married to Gloria, and they had 3 children; Paul & his family, Diana & her family, Mark & his family. Lois (sister) married to Henry and they had 3 children; Lawrence & his family, Kenny & his family, Ricky & his family. Wendy (sister) who was married to Hemmy (predeceased) with 3 children; Eric & his family, Johnathan & his family, Willy & his family. Keith (brother) married to Claire he had 1 child - Cody. Della (sister) with 2 children; Erin & her family, Jamie. Elwin (brother) married to Connie and they had 3 children Travis, Nathan & his family, Amanda & her family. Rosalie (sister) with 1 child - Lonny & his 2 children. June (sister) with 4 children; Pauline & her family, Daniel (predeceased) & his family, Ervin & his family, Darrell & his family.

Just like his mom and dad Mervin also decided to enjoy life with a big family. He had 8 children and with those 8 children came 12 grandchildren. Shanna (daughter) married to Paul with 2 children; Haven, Trenton. Jason (son) married to Charlene with 2 children; Reece, Katelyn. Tara (daughter) married to Michael with 2 children; Maddison, Linton. Tiffeny (daughter) with 2 children; Jayden, Logan. Rhychelle (daughter) who had 2 children; Avery, Grace. Kandace (daughter) married to Derrick with 2 children; Bennett, Levi. Kassandra (daughter-predeceased), Clayton (son).

Mervin was so full of life and always had a smile on his face that could light up a room. Mervin was an outgoing play in the mud get right down and dirty kind of man. When he wasn’t spending time with his family or children he was working on vehicles, heavy equipment or tinkering with anything that needed to be fixed. Mervin loved his family and children very much. It’s with deepest sadness that we say farewell to our dad, brother, uncle, nephew, cousin, family, friend. Mervin will always hold a special place in everyone heart that had the chance to meet him.
