Alexzander Howard Duma

May 8, 1935 – May 30, 2022 (Age 87)

It is with deep sorrow that we announce the loss our beloved husband, dad, papa and friend, Alexzander Howard Duma on May 30, 2022, at the age of 87, who passed away at the Athabasca Healthcare Centre after a very short, courageous battle with cancer.

Alex is survived by his wife Joan (nee Price) of 57 years, four children: Christine (Rob), George, Alice (Denis) and Margaret (Scott); six grandchildren: Ashlee & Allana St. Jean, Kyle & Ryley Duma, Carter & Megan Tieulie; brother: Nick (Dorothy) Duma; sister-in-law(s) and brother-in-law(s); Rosemarie Duma, Margaret Williams, Floyd (Dorothy) Price, Lorna Price, Barb (John) Speer; as well as numerous nieces, nephews and friends.

Alex was predeceased by his parents, John and Anastasia (Nellie) Duma; brothers: Sam, Mike, Bill, John and Steve; sisters: Annie, Mary, Katie, Alice; and respective sister-in-law(s) and brother-in-law(s).

A viewing will take place at the Athabasca Community Chapel on Friday, June 17, 2022 from 7:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. A private family service will take place at the Athabasca Community Chapel with internment to follow at the Athabasca Cemetery.

The family would like to express sincere thanks and gratitude to the many nurses and doctors at the Athabasca Healthcare Centre for the wonderful care they gave to Alex. Additionally, the family would also like to express heartfelt thanks to Dr. Schaub for his wholehearted dedication, empathy, sincerity, and professionalism in assisting both Alex and the family through this difficult time. The family is forever grateful for his kindness and compassion.

Thank you to Harvey, Dale and staff at the Athabasca Community Chapel; your compassion is beyond expectation.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Alex’s memory to the Athabasca HealthCare Centre – Palliative Care Unit.
